ABB wins breakthrough order for Onboard DC Grid

ABB’s Onboard DC Grid (OSJ Jan/Feb and March 2012) was designed to provide a highly efficient power distribution and electric propulsion system that is suitable for a wide range of vessel types, including offshore support vessels. It is suitable for use with low voltage power systems of up to 20MW with a voltage of 1000v DC. ABB believes that the new onboard power generation system will produce significant benefits for shipowners in a number of different market segments. To some extent it....
