Class societies agree to use common calculation tools

A landmark agreement has been reached by ABS and LR to use common software for the assessment of scantlings of bulk carriers and oil tankers designed to comply with the new Common Structural Rules (CSR). CSR were adopted and unanimously supported by members of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) in 2005 and became effective for vessels contracted on or after 1 April 2006. They apply to all double-hull tankers of 150m in length and above and to single and double side....
