Cruise impact grows in Europe

Latest figures from the European Cruise Council (ECC), as published in the fourth edition of European Cruise Contribution, show that direct expenditure by cruise companies, shipyards and passengers in Europe in 2008 amounted to €14.2 billion, 10 per cent up on 2007. Of this total amount, €4.3 billion, around 30 per cent, was spent in Italy, making this the leading cruise centre in the region.
