After a successful inaugural European Dynamic Positioning Conference in 2009, and following feedback from attendees, the 2010 event is expanding to a two day programme. To ensure that the conference remains relevant and topical, Riviera Maritime Media has assembled a group of dynamic positioning (DP) industry experts to form an event advisory panel.

The panel, chaired by Riviera Maritime Media’s events director Mike Porter, consists of representatives from a shipowner, a supplier, a training provider, a consultant, an industry body and the media. Their wealth of knowledge and experience will contribute significantly to the development of the conference programme and overall event.

The panel consists of:

• Mark Pointon, DP training manager, Nautical Institute

• Mike Porter, events director, Riviera Maritime Media (chairman)

“Following the success of the first European Dynamic Positioning Conference in 2009, it made sense to copy the formula used in developing our Annual OSJ Conference by introducing an advisory panel consisting of distinguished DP experts to deliver an event which meets the needs of the market,” said Mike Porter. The first meeting took place on 2 February at London’s Millennium Gloucester Hotel. The panel considered the need for more networking opportunities, broader coverage within the programme and the addition of an exhibition in its deliberations.

The European Dynamic Positioning Conference will be held in London on 26-27 May. The event is designed to address the key issues facing owners and operators of ships and rigs, ship and DP system designers, drilling contractors, class, equipment manufacturers and service providers in the development and operation of DP systems in the offshore oilfield and marine sectors.
