Denmark to use AIS reports to control ships in Great Belt

Denmark will amend the way ships report their positions and routes in the Great Belt area, once it gains IMO approval to use AIS. The maritime authority will use AIS reports transmitted from ships in the straits between the North Sea and Baltic Sea to shore-based vessel traffic services, replacing the use of VHF radio reports.
