Further scope for W46F engine development

Wärtsilä 46F medium speed engines have logged over 360,000 running hours in marine and stationary power plant since the first two models were delivered in 2007 for Wagenborg Shipping’s open-top container carrier Rijnborg. Each of these 6-cylinder engines has accumulated more than 22,000 hours. Some 57 W46F engines have now been delivered for ship propulsion and 29 for land-based power installations. The 46F design was pursued when there was no more potential for further develop....
