OSVs help tackle Elgin gas leak

The spotlight was on offshore safety in the UK after Total Exploration & Production’s Elgin production platform was evacuated on 25 March due to a major gas leak. Questions were being asked as to whether Total was one spark away from disaster. The consensus is that it was a close call and it could take months to halt the gas leak. Total’s swift evacuation of one of the UK’s top producing assets, and its rapid deployment of OSVs as emergency fire-fighting ships, was applaud....
