Southern European yards are focused on tankers

Southern European yards, in recent years, have benefitted from a geographical shift in tanker repair and maintenance work. Northern European yards are increasingly focused on higher value passenger ship and offshore vessel work rather than the mainstream tanker business, though of course vessels of this type continue to dock at yards in the north.
