Upgrade and installation are costly challenges

Drydocking of a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel extends its lifetime, but is costly because of the revenues lost when oil production is halted. Oil companies want life extension maintenance in the field, while maintaining oil production. FPSOs are expected to remain on the oilfield throughout the life of the project. But some FPSOs need new mooring systems, or DP system repairs, which means they halt production and sail to drydocking facilities. Also, an increasing numb....
