Use of LNG as marine fuel gathers pace

October 2011 • Shell and Wärtsilä signed a joint co-operation agreement under which the partners will work together to promote the use of LNG as a marine fuel in North America. Wärtsilä’s marketing of its DF series of dual-fuel engines to the US maritime sector will be backed by Shell’s guarantee of LNG availability from its portfolio of sources worldwide. The initial focus will be on the US Gulf Coast region but the principals plan to increase the scop....
