Asian yards build on winning LNG carrier construction record

The delivery in January 2012 of the 160,000m3 Cubal by Samsung Heavy Industries, for service in the carriage of Angola LNG, marked the completion of the 303rd fully refrigerated LNG carrier to be built in Asia. Asian shipyards have been building LNG carriers since Kawasaki Shipbuilding Corp completed the 129,000m3 Golar Spirit in 1981.
