Chemical owners are facing inert gas pressures

There is broad agreement among the charterers of tanker vessels that the fitting and use of inert gas raises the level of safety on board. However IMO Solas regulations for the fitting and use of inert gas do not apply to all tankers. Oil tankers below 20,000 dwt and chemical tankers are not required to fit or use inert gas when transporting low flash cargoes.
