China is rising up through the ranks of the LNG importing nations. A total of 12.21 million tonnes (mt) of LNG were shipped to the country last year, a 30 per cent rise on the 2010 level. The surge in shipments was enough to push China past Taiwan to become Asia’s third largest LNG importer.
