DNV support for life extensions

Det Norske Veritas (DNV) has been involved with several LNG carrier life extension projects since 2002. The schemes, all of which concerned Moss spherical tank ships, took six to nine months to complete on average. The key elements of a life extension project are an onboard survey, desktop studies and the evaluation of optimum maintenance strategies and repair and upgrading work at the yard, including class surveys.
