Elderly tonnage departs from the North Sea

Figures from market intelligence experts IHS show that 345 vessels were trading in the North Sea during the final week of October, a rise of 15 per cent from the same period in 2011 (298 vessels). Such a large rise has been caused by a significant amount of newbuild vessels, in particular large platform supply vessels (PSVs), being delivered into the market mainly from Norwegian shipyards during 2012.
