Engineers from Danaos Shipping and ExxonMobil Marine Lubricants have systematically monitored the condition of the 12K98MC-C low speed engine powering the 8,500 TEU container ship, CSCL Europe, which is chartered to China Shipping Container Lines. Entering service in 2004 as the world’s largest container ship , the vessel has been lubricated from the start with Mobilgard 570 cylinder oil, formulated by ExxonMobil to reduce piston wear and deposits and extend the overhaul intervals of two-s....
