French offshore players leave the starting blocks

The turbines Alstom will be installing at three sites in the French Atlantic will be the biggest offshore wind machines the world has ever seen. With a nacelle height of 100m and 73.5m-long blades – the longest in the world – the 1,500 tonne, 6MW Haliade 150 turbines developed by Alstom will reach up more than half the height of the Eiffel Tower when they enter operation in 2020.
