The US Coast Guard (USCG) is working to publish its standards for the review and approval of ballast water treatment systems. On 21 June its discharge standards entered into United States law. At the same time, the IMO D-2 ballast water discharge standards are closer than ever with 35 signatories and more than 28 per cent of world tonnage committed. The latest signatory is the Russian Federation. The convention will enter into force one year after it has been ratified by 30 member states compris....
