In July 2010, Dave Boldt, safety superintendent at Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd (RCCL), contacted aviation software specialist Aerobytes – and five other companies that declined to respond – to see whether there was a way to adapt quality assurance programs in aviation to the marine industry.
