Throughout the world there are a number of regions where deepsea pilots (DSPs) are employed, including the British Isles, the Baltic Sea, the Australian Great Barrier Reef and the Straits of Malacca and Singapore. Though not mandatory, such pilotage is recommended under IMO resolution A. 486 (XII).
