Floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels are increasingly designed for deepwater and harsh environment operations. They are used to develop remote oil and gas fields, usually away from export pipelines, with oil offloaded on to tankers when the storage tanks are almost full. The latest round of FPSO orders has come from deepwater projects off Brazil and for North Sea developments.
