Shallow water generates innovative propulsors

There are many routes where ships have to be designed for shallow water operation, including one in the Baltic Sea between Gedser, Denmark and Rostock, Germany. This requires a special ferry design to take into account the shallow waters encountered on much of the route, along with strong cross-currents at the harbour entrance.
