Tanker owners must start selecting plant, advises USCG

Owners who want to be trading to the US will have to install a ballast water treatment system by 2013 or apply for an extension under US regulations. For their part, US authorities will be refining their policies in this area and also working on getting an approved laboratory established to facilitate the approval process.
