Turbocharger failures are on the increase

Since the beginning of 2010 there has been a clear and worrying increase in the number of turbocharger failures, according to Kay Wetzel, staff surveyor at the Association of Hanseatic Marine Underwriters (VHT). VHT has 86 insurance company members with over 2,200 hull and machinery policies for a wide range of vessels, and handles some 1,000 claims a year of various kinds.
