Both ends of Wärtsilä’s low speed engine power spectrum were strengthened in the past year, most recently with the extension of its new X-generation series to embrace a 920mm-bore model. The X-series was launched in May 2011 with mid-sized 620mm-bore and 720mm-bore designs offering higher internal efficiencies and expanded power/speed layout fields.
