VLGC breakthrough for Jiangnan

The Jiangnan Shipbuilding Group on Shanghai Changxing Island has joined the small number of shipbuilders with an orderbook that includes fully refrigerated (FR) LPG carriers. In doing so, it has become the first Chinese shipyard to embark upon the construction of such vessels. The John Fredriksen-controlled company Frontline has ordered up to six 82,000m3 very large gas carriers (VLGCs) at Jiangnan at a reported cost below US$70 million per vessel, with deliveries beginning in 2014.
