When launched from the Pallion yard in Sunderland by North East Shipbuilders, Seawell set a new benchmark for multifunctional OSVs. Even today, after 25 years of delivering a decent return for its owners – first Stena Offshore and then Well Ops UK (a unit of Houston company Helix Energy) – this veteran is still regarded as among the best of its kind.
