Role and key responsibilities
The Circulation/Marketing Manager will work closely with and report to the Managing Director and is responsible for paid circulation, delegate and data sales marketing and driving web traffic for Riviera's journals and events, using online and conventional channels. The successful candidate will work closely with the Data Manager to exploit all database and marketing synergies that exist across the company.
The key indicators for success in this role will be increased subscribers, delegates and data sales, through Riviera’s own websites and through third-party sites. The successful candidate will fully utilise our CRM and e-marketing suites and third party products to ensure that the company develops its ability to target new clients more effectively through improved technology.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities: Circulation
• Manage the company database for all distribution, marketing campaigns and bespoke data selections. Update and refresh mailing lists as needed, incorporating data from events and conferences as it is obtained.
• Deliver the annual circulation strategy, covering all elements of the marketing mix to include internet, email & telephone sectors etc.
• Implement all aspects of ABC audit requirements ensuring audit targets in terms of circulation and accuracy are achieved.
• Responsible for keeping all key departments informed of target achievement throughout the year through regular reports.
• Ensure that best practices are adhered to within the team, whilst consistently striving to improve standards.
• Continually review the annual circulation cost base to ensure response rates are maintained and improvement made where necessary.
• Review and test consistently, all marketing materials as appropriate, to maximise response rates and improve paid circulation.
• Provide the sales department with accurate and relevant ABC and competitor data to assist their sales efforts.
• Together with the Managing Director, initiate and contribute positively at sales and journal meetings when asked to attend.
• Overseeing the day to day subscriptions administration and fulfilment.
• Manage responsibly the budgets which are allocated to your department.
• Travel nationally and internationally if needed, to adequately fulfil the role.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities: Marketing
• Responsible for brand management and brand awareness in the global shipping & offshore industries
• Ensuring the brand message is communicated consistently both internally and externally
• developing, creating, managing and analysing campaigns through all channels, including:
• campaigns on Riviera websites
• campaigns on third party sites
• e-mail campaigns
• direct mail campaigns
• advertising
• PR
• viral campaigns via social networks
• briefing, managing and monitoring paid search campaigns
• amending, reacting and altering PPC campaigns according to analysis and promotions being undertaken
• SEO activity: this will include ensuring that all digital copy is SEO friendly; that all updates on the site are in line with good SEO practice; implementation of core external SEO activity, to include link building and content submission strategies
• working with our fulfilment houses, maintenance of the journal websites, analysing and testing of landing pages
• uploading new website copy on a regular basis; development of new content ideas; analysis of web performance (to include user journey performance) and development of solutions to enhance performance; setting up and tracking conversion goals
• producing regular reports on performance of online activities and key web performance indicators; this report should highlight emerging patterns and propose solutions to react to/act on them
• identifying online partners with which Riviera can link, share content and run brand awareness campaigns
• growing Riviera's affiliate offering of third-party products and services online, integrating all areas of Riviera business
Candidates must:
• have at least five years marketing experience, including a large element of digital
• be familiar with good SEO practice, basic coding, and be able to undertake both internal and external SEO activity
• have strong CRM skills
• understand where online marketing fits within the wider marketing mix
• understand PPC strategy and be able to brief, manage and analyse PPC campaigns
• be a capable copy writer who recognises the value of brand identity
• have experience of running analysis of website performance and experience of effecting onsite changes to improve performance
• understand social media and have experience of marketing through it
• have experience of developing themes for e-mail marketing campaigns and subsequently implementing them
• have experience of managing third parties responsible for providing web and online marketing services
• be experienced in producing reports for senior management on the online performance of a brand
• be able work in a target driven environment
• possess strong analytical skills
• be able to work with all departments, other suppliers and key stakeholders
• be a self-starter with great communication skills.
Qualifications: ideally CIM / IDM or equivalent marketing degree
