The Intelligent Monitoring & Maintenance Award recognises projects, concepts and technologies that advance condition monitoring capabilities and move shipping towards the goal of predictive maintenance, improving vessel reliability and reducing off-hire time.
This award encompasses all technologies – sensors, software and hardware – that allows crew on board and on shore greater visibility and insight into the performance of engines and machinery. The way these technologies are used will be equally important; judges will be particularly interested to hear how shipowners are using condition monitoring to improve the way they organise both planned and unscheduled maintenance.
In order to quantify the success of monitoring and maintenance improvements judges will be looking for the impact of projects and products on maintenance cost, time and availability. The potential for scaling technologies to a wider fleet will also be an important consideration.
The award will be presented to the winner at the Marine Propulsion Awards after Day 1 of the Sulphur Cap 2020 conference.
