Marlow Group has acquired Opielok Offshore Carriers (OOC) in a merger agreement following months of negotiations
On 28 June, Marlow signed an agreement in which it took over Opielok’s shares, after beginning merger discussions Q4 2020.
Marlow said the key focus and main driver behind merging the two brands was “to retain well tested and proven qualities, while streamlining processes and benefiting from economies of scale which will result in improved customer service”.
OOC will be renamed Marlow Offshore Carriers and the nucleus of the new company will operate out of Marlow’s Hamburg, Germany office.
Marlow Offshore Carriers will continue to offer technical and crew management in the offshore and renewables market. This merger strengthen Marlow’s footprint in this sector at a time when demand for vessel services is improving.
Marlow said this deal combines OOC’s knowhow with Marlow’s worldwide network. “It will lead to a lean offshore management company embedded in a solid global framework” Marlow said.
“For existing and future clients, this merger translates into a personal, flexible approach to their requirements used with the additional advantage of a large well-structured shipmanagement company able to provide and supply any service anywhere. Existing offshore activities, paired with OOC’s expertise, will result in new synergies and areas of growth,” Marlow continued.
Cyprus-headquartered Marlow provides third-party crew and shipmanagement services to support vessels throughout their lifecycle backed by a global network of offices, recruiting agencies and training centres.
Marlow has around 1,000 shore-based staff and 14,000 crew on board managed vessels. It has management offices in Limassol, Hamburg, Rotterdam (the Netherlands), Mumbai (India) and Hong Kong. It also runs maritime academies and training centres in the Philippines, Ukraine, Russia and Germany.
