Mexican tugboat owner Equimar is implementing software from Logimatic to optimise operations and improve management of its growing fleet
Equimar is deploying Sertica program modules for health and safety, quality and environment, maintenance and procurement for its tugs operating in Puerto Progreso Yucatan, in Mexico.
Equimar operations manager José Salomón López Juárez said implementing Sertica will enable the tug owner to enhance its standards and towage operations in the port.
“We expect Sertica will improve our overall performance and ship management in our day-to-day business and in relation to external audits,” said Mr Juárez. “The management systems module will assist us in ensuring high standards and stability,” he said.
Equimar said phase one will be implemented by March 2020.
It operates five tugs providing harbour towage and ship manoeuvring support.
Logimatic project manager Palle Kaastrup said his company was increasing its experience with providing fleet management software to the tugboat segment.
Denmark-headquartered Logimatic is working with a local representative to provide Equimar with support in Spanish.
Equimar has more than 25 years of experience in port towing, transport trailer, vessel agency and motor transport activities.
Its five tugs guide ships to their berthing destination for cargo loading and unloading, preventing accidents, groundings and collisions with structures and other vessels.
