The global leader in offshore support vessel ownership has deployed a cloud-based program to improve crew management
This aids personnel management on its fleet of anchor handling and supply vessels that support mooring installations, rig moves and transport equipment to drilling rigs and remote offshore production units.
This digitalisation software is transforming the way it manages more than 1,100 seafarers serving on its fleet, said Maersk Supply Service head of crewing Kevin Bro Beier. “Working closely with a dedicated team of professionals has contributed to a fast and straightforward implementation, and we have gained an increase in user satisfaction and efficiency,” he said.
“Our new crew management system combines a standard platform with comprehensive functionality with a high degree of usability, enabling us to deploy new features at a faster pace.”
Maersk Supply Service has deployed Hanseaticsoft’s Cloud Fleet Manager for seafarer management. This includes a web-based module for vessel masters and shore bases to manage offshore teams and handle all crew-related tasks with interfaces (APIs) to import and export data from and to Cloud Fleet Manager. Data can then be shared with external providers, especially as APIs of the payroll module are primarily used to analyse information for additional calculations.
While implementing the system, data from four different solutions previously used to handle all the crew related tasks was imported into the Cloud Crewing module, which replaces the legacy systems.
As a result, Maersk Supply Service can perform seafarer and vessel management-related tasks using one central system rather than multiple different solutions, saving time, cost and resources.
Cloud Crewing will be used to manage the crew’s activity-based payroll, crew particulars, dynamic crew change management and to check compliance of documents. A crew portal will enable its mariners to autonomously access and manage their personal data or documents and to access company news and shared data such as presentations or training schedules.
Maersk Supply Service is using the Cashbox module to handle all cash on board and a bonded store module to register and administrate all transactions from shops on its vessels.
Maersk Supply Service is part of AP Møller-Maersk. It is headquartered in Lyngby, Denmark, and has offices in Aberdeen (Scotland), Accra (Ghana), Luanda (Angola), Mexico City, Perth (Australia), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Singapore, and St. John’s (Canada).
Industry leaders will be discussing methods of implementing digitalisation technologies to improve efficiency of vessel operations at Riviera Maritime Media’s first Optimised Ship Forums in Hamburg, Germany on 1 October.
