China’s first large-scale, privately owned LNG import terminal has received its first LNG cargo transported by a Q-Flex LNG carrier, according to Qatargas
Developed at a cost of about US$1.5Bn in Zhejiang province, China, ENN Zhoushan LNG receiving terminal is located at the New Port Industrial Park of Zhoushan Economic Development Zone. The terminal has two onshore tanks, each with a capacity of 160,000 m3 and a dedicated LNG berth with a capacity of 3 mta. Subsequent phases of development could expand its capacity to 10 mta.
The cargo by the Qatargas-chartered LNG vessel Al Gharrafa was loaded at Ras Laffan in Qatar on 16 March 2020 and delivered to the terminal on 1 April 2020. Built in 2008 by South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries, 315-m Al Gharrafa has a capacity of 216,200 m3. It is owned and managed by Qatari shipping company Nakilat.
One of the largest clean energy distributors in China, ENN Group sells and distributes piped gas and LNG. Its business includes other multi-energy products, as well as investments in constructing and operating gas pipeline infrastructure, vehicle and ship refuelling stations, and integrated energy projects.
