Working as part of a consortium, Aker Solutions has signed an EPCI contract with an undisclosed customer to provide the high-voltage, direct current transmission system for a large offshore wind project
In a statement, the company said more details about the project will be announced by the customer and its partners in Q3 2021.
Aker Solutions’ scope will include engineering, procurement, construction and installation of an offshore HVDC converter platform. The platform will consist of a steel jacket substructure and a topside platform deck housing the electrical equipment.
Work will start immediately, with installation planned to start in the second half of 2024 and final deliveries in the second half of 2025.
The HVDC platform will collect AC power generated by wind turbine generators and convert it to DC before transmission through an export cable to the project’s onshore converter station and grid connection system.
Aker Solutions will book about Nkr3.00Bn (US$0.34Bn) as order intake related to the award, in Q3 2021.
