Japan’s NYK Line reported 174,000-m3 LNG carrier Diamond Gas Victoria was delivered for a long-term charter contract with Diamond Gas International Pte Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corp
Like sister vessel Diamond Gas Crystal delivered in May, Diamond Gas Victoria was built by South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries to transport LNG from the LNG Canada project in British Columbia. Expectations are that the first cargo will be shipped from the under-construction facility by mid-decade.
A milestone in the construction of LNG Canada was marked in mid-June with delivery of the 345-tonne main cryogenic heat exchanger and two precoolers.
Diamond Gas Victoria is owned by NYK, Asia LNG Transport Dua and Mitsubishi through the joint venture Diamond LNG Shipping 6 Pte Ltd. Ship management will be handled by the NYK Group.
With an overall length of 297.1 m and beam of 46.4 m, Singapore-flagged Diamond Gas Victoria is equipped with low-pressure, Otto-cycle, dual-fuel WinGD X-DF propulsion, allowing for operation on marine gasoil or boil-off gas (BOG) stored in the cargo tank. A reliquefaction system returns unused BOG to the GTT Mark III Flex cargo tank.
LNG Canada’s joint venture partners are Royal Dutch Shell, through its affiliate Shell Canada Energy (40%); Petronas, through its wholly owned entity, North Montney LNG Limited Partnership (25%); PetroChina, through its subsidiary PetroChina Canada (15%); Mitsubishi Corp, through its subsidiary Diamond LNG Canada (15%); and Korea Gas Corp, through its wholly owned subsidiary Kogas Canada LNG (5%).
