MacArtney Group has completed tests of a horizontal single blade mounting tool for Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy’s SG 11.0-193 DD offshore wind turbine. The tests were undertaken at the Østerild testing facility in Denmark
The Danish company said the horizontal single blade mounting (HSBM) tool for the SG 11.0-193 DD completed site acceptance tests at Østerild “with flying colours” and is now ready for commercial use. Its use has already been preapproved for a German windfarm project.
Designed for quick and easy installation, the tool aligns the blade and the hub of the nacelle and allows for horizontal blade mounting.
“Rotation of the hub of the nacelle for blade installation is a critical operation,” said MacArtney. “The HSBM tool establishes a solid foundation for this, taking into account the physical dimensions of the SG 11.0-193 DD, transport and mobility requirements, safety and the need for an ergonomic solution.”
