The first of two deck carriers, BoldWind, that will service the offshore wind energy industry, has been delivered to United Wind Logistics, with a second vessel to follow later in 2020
BoldWind will now start its maiden voyage towards Europe, where the vessel will be employed on a long-term charter in the offshore wind industry.
On its maiden voyage, the vessel will carry Vestas wind turbine blades from China to Norway.
With a deadweight of 10,000 tonnes, deck length of 128 m and breadth of 28 m, the deck carrier is designed with a high level of flexibility and attractive intake for large or heavy cargo.
The vessel also combines an optimised hull design and diesel-electric propulsion.
The electric package was supplied by ABB and powered by four MAN diesel generators burning MDO.
The engines meet IMO Tier III emission regulations being equipped with selective catalytic reduction.
Riviera will host a week of free to attend 45-minute webinars focused on offshore wind commencing 8 June. Register your interest now
