Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) has introduced a new digital tool to support ship drydock planning and maintenance
Performance Overview has been added to its existing LiveFleet monitoring platform to provide greater transparency of ship’s performance for shipowners, managers and crew.
Information from performance data can support owners’ decisions on drydocking ships for hull cleaning and maintaining onboard systems.
BSM said LiveFleet has become a vital component of its class certified smartPAL, a ship management enterprise resource-planning system.
Performance Overview provides information on ship performance in regular intervals 24/7, displaying historical data such as hull and engine performance, ship speed and fuel consumption.
“Through this development, shipowners and crew on board see the same information as our shore teams,” said BSM chief operating officer Jeroen Deelen.
“This unique level of transparency ensures all three sides can collaborate in real-time, utilising data-driven insights to advance decisions on performance and efficiency.”
Declining ship performance has a significant impact on operating costs. From the data analysis, LiveFleet creates predictive recommendations for underwater inspections and cleaning, supporting proactive maintenance of the ship, reducing speed loss, bunker consumption and ultimately emissions and costs.
“At BSM, we constantly strive to improve interactions with our customers as well as be transparent to increase their competitiveness in this challenging market environment,” said Mr Deelen.
“The development of intelligent solutions and technologies is in line with our digitalisation strategy, which makes the fleet we manage even more efficient and sustainable.”
