French cargo containment technology provider GTT has signed a global technical services agreement to cover the entire LNG carrier fleet of Norwegian shipowner Knutsen OAS Shipping
Under the agreement announced in July, GTT will support Knutsen OAS Shipping with the maintenance and operation of LNG carriers, providing onsite technical assistance for inspection, maintenance, repairs, operations and engineering services.
Knutsen OAS Shipping has a fleet of 12 vessels currently in service and five newbuilds, the last of which is due for delivery by 2022. All of Knutsen’s vessels are equipped with either GTT Mark III Flex or NO96 cargo containment systems (CCS).
Knutsen OAS Shipping will also benefit from access to the Hears 1 emergency hotline, which enables shipowners and their crews to contact GTT’s experts 24/7 to respond to operational issues.
GTT chairman and chief executive Philippe Berterottière, said agreement was part of GTT’s effort to offer “tailor-made support services, adapted to the needs of our customers,” allowing shipowners to “maximum efficiency and safety for vessels in operation.”
Separately, GTT also announced it had secured an order from the engineering, procurement and construction contractor China Petroleum Engineering and Construction Corp North China Company to design the containment system for a 29,000-m3 membrane full containment onshore tank. GTT will design the membrane inner tank using its GST technology.
The onshore storage tank is for the Hejian LNG peak shaving plant located in Hejian City, in the Hebei Province in China, with commissioning expected in H2 2021.
