Singapore boatbuilder Strategic Marine (S) Pte has secured a contract to build two 42-m fast crew boats (FCB) for Centus Marine
These vessels are the fifth and sixth that will be built by Strategic Marine for Centus Marine, following the delivery of a 40-m FCB in February 2021. The FCBs are scheduled to be completed in Q2 and Q4 2021, respectively.
This design is a customised solution developed in close collaboration with Centus Marine to meet their operational needs.
Propulsion power for each vessel will be supplied by three Cummins KTA50 engines, providing a cruising speed of 30 knots, and top speed of over 31 knots. The design of the crew boats is fully compliant to the requirements of Malaysia state oil company Petronas, according to Strategic Marine.
Crew comfort and safety is another major consideration for Centus Marine which is reflected in the interior arrangement of the vessels. The accommodation area features 12 berths in seven cabins and can comfortably accommodate up to 100 personnel on board. It offers spacious business-class recliner seats, dedicated luggage racks, a large, incorporated deck storage and wide, efficient walkways to facilitate crew transfer amid demanding offshore conditions.
Commenting on the contract, Strategic Marine chief executive Chan Eng Yew said “This win adds to our growing order pipeline and is a significant kick-start to 2021.”
