Having recently announced the creation of a UK-based renewables team, Clarksons Platou has strengthened its team with the appointment of Olivier Candeel, who will take up a role as transport and installation manager
Mr Candeel brings 10 years of experience in the maritime industry to his new role, having previously worked for five years in various roles for the offshore contractor DEME Offshore. He is experienced in setting up supply chains and logistics solutions for heavy-lift foundations, having worked on several of the largest UK and European offshore windfarms.
Mr Candeel will work closely with divisional director renewables, James Braid, on the transport and installation phases of offshore foundations and marshalling port setup as well as logistics, consultancy and brokerage on various of the supply chain elements. He will be also taking a lead role in promoting floating wind for the group.
Mr Braid said, “Bringing on board someone with Olivier’s experience of the T&I side of offshore wind is another leap forward for our skillset and widening focus. With large developments such as ScotWind around the corner, his skills will complement the consultancy work we are already providing.
“Offshore wind is a hot topic globally and with Olivier having worked in existing and new markets like the UK and US he has exclusive operational knowledge and insight as well as lessons learned experience that our clients will find invaluable.”
