A ground-breaking ceremony was held at the Port of Eemshaven on 8 September 2025 to mark the start of construction of the warehouse facility to support the operations and maintenance of Nordseecluster
Nordseecluster is a joint offshore wind project of RWE (51%) and Norges Bank Investment Management (49%). The new building, approximately 1,700 m2 in size, will be located in the Beatrixhaven at the premises of Clarkson Port Services. The facility is expected to be completed by the end of Q1 2026. RWE will take a long-term lease on the new facility.
With a planned capacity of 1.6 GW, Nordseecluster A and B will be the largest wind project currently being built off the German coast.
Representatives from the Eemshaven Port Authority, construction company Bouwgroep Noord, Civil Technical Advise & Management company InvraPlus, RWE and Clarkson Port Services BV, broke the ground together to kick-off the construction works, which are scheduled to take around seven months to complete.
Starting mid-2026, a service operation vessel and crew transfer vessels will operate from the base to transport workers to the offshore wind turbines.
The base is designed to support the long-term operation and maintenance of Nordseecluster A and B, which is expected to be fully operational in 2029.
