Damen Shipyards Group will appoint Marc van Heyningen as its new chief operating officer
Damen said Mr van Heyningen, who has spent the vast majority of his career working for Fluor Corporation in various general and operations management positions in Netherlands, UK, India and the US will take over as COO as of 1 April 2020.
Mr van Heyningen’s last role was vice president of operations in Fluor’s headquarters in Dallas, Texas, and he will succeed Jan-Wim Dekker, who started as Damen’s COO on 1 January 2020.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr van Heyningen said “I very much look forward to joining the Damen team and working to strengthen project execution and quality of delivery.”
Damen chief executive Arnout Damen said "We warmly welcome Marc on board," adding "With his experience and background, he is certainly able to take operational excellence within our company to an even higher level." Mr Damen took over from outgoing chief executive René Berkvens who moved to the company’s supervisory board, on 1 January 2020. In addition to Mr Damen, Mr Dekker and Mr Van Heyningen, chief transformation officer Andreas Fluhrer and chief financial officer Tom Touber complete the board.
Last week the company revealed a new air cavity system designed to cut emissions in cruise vessels. The company has also developed a new concept OSV.
