Deep Wind Offshore teams up with KHNP to develop two Korean windfarms

Together, the Norwegian developer and KHNP will develop the Admiral Lee and Abalone bottom-fixed offshore wind projects.

Admiral Lee is a 1.5-GW project off the south coast of South Korea. The Abalone windfarm, also a 1.5-GW project, is offshore southwest South Korea.

KHNP director renewable energy Kang Young-chul said, “KHNP is evolving beyond its traditional role as a leader in nuclear and hydro power generation to become a driving force in the transition to green energy, through the development of renewable sources such as offshore wind.

“Our partnership with Deep Wind Offshore is a milestone in strengthening Korea’s global competitiveness in offshore wind. Through this collaboration, we will actively contribute to the expansion of clean energy, while also leading localization efforts.”

Deep Wind Offshore chief executive Knut Vassbotn said, “With an impressive track-record and a unique local position, KHNP is the perfect partner for Deep Wind Offshore.
