Danish ballast water management system (BWMS) provider DESMI is in the middle of a mammoth ballast water treatment system installation on 50 Stolt Tankers’ chemical carriers
The first CompactClean BWMS was commissioned on a Stolt Tankers’ vessel in January 2019, and just 26 months later, another 49 Stolt Tankers vessels have been equipped with CompactClean.
“We are proud to announce we now have 50 Stolt Tankers’ vessels commissioned and operating more than 100 CompactClean BWMS,” said DESMI Ocean Guard chief executive Rasmus Folsø.
This result has been achieved through close collaboration between DESMI and Stolt Tankers throughout the process, including design, co-ordination, commissioning and operational support.
DESMI Ocean Guard technical manager Mark K Andersen added, “It is truly a milestone to have the 50th Stolt Tankers vessel in operation with CompactClean BWMS.”
The CompactClean BWMS installed on the 50 Stolt Tankers’ vessels is both IMO and USCG type-approved, EX-certified, has no minimum holding time requirement on the IMO certificate and has just 2 hours minimum holding time requirement on USCG TA certificate.
DESMI has also won ballast water treatment system orders for reefer vessels and has been approved for dry bulk carriers.
This adds to the ferries, container ships, offshore supply vessels, anchor handlers, general cargo vessels, tankers, roro vessels, and so on that have already received DESMI BWMS.
