Solstad, DOF gain vessel contracts in Brazil
Norwegian vessel owners have gained contracts and charter extensions for vessels operating offshore Brazil
Rising demand for subsea services and deepwater drilling in Brazil has led to another series of contract awards for Oslo, Norway-listed offshore support vessel owners.
Solstad Offshore has secured a new contract for its anchor-handling tug, supply (AHTS) vessel, 2007-built Normand Turquesa, for four years from Brazilian state energy group Petrobras.
This contract, for the UT 722L design AHTS, is set to commence in February 2026, while the current contract for Normand Turquesa, which offers 190 tonnes of bollard pull, has been extended by nine months to run until the start of new charter.
DOF Group has won an offshore service and survey contract in Brazil for its 106-m subsea support vessel Skandi Achiever to support a project installing subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF).
This contract for the 2007-built STX DSV 06 design vessel is expected to commence in early May and covers three campaigns during 2025.
Also in Brazil, DOF’s 2009-built ROV subsea support vessel, Skandi Salvador, has had its charter, service, and survey contract extended by Subsea 7 until July 2025 as it supports SURF projects on deepwater oil fields.
Another Norwegian vessel owner, Akastor’s AKOFS Offshore, is negotiating with Petrobras for the charter of its 2009-built subsea construction support vessel AKOFS Santos.
This follows it winning the latest tender auction for a four-year contract for a multipurpose support vessel, starting in July 2026. Akastor said the “contract award remains subject to negotiations with the client.”
