NYSE-listed petroleum gas shipping company Dorian LPG chose a compact hybrid scrubber from Clean Marine for retrofit installation on its VLGC and noted the speed the yard and supplier completed the work
Dorian LPG chose a compact hybrid scrubber from Clean Marine for retrofit installation on board Cratis, a very large gas carrier (VLGC). This hybrid scrubber installation for the Dorian LPG eco-design VLGC Cratis took only 30 days to complete, including the vessel’s special survey work carried out both in drydock and alongside a berth at Keppel Shipyard in Singapore.
“We are very pleased with our collaboration and close partnerships with Keppel Shipyard and Clean Marine in our projects. The execution of a hybrid scrubber installation, including special survey and maintenance work for our vessels within 30 days, surpasses our expectations. We highly recommend Clean Marine for their professionalism and for the efficient execution in installing scrubbers on our ships” said Dorian LPG’s chief executive officer John Lycouris.
“Docking vessels for scrubber retrofits means the vessel has no income in the period, so every minute and hour we can reduce our installation time means increased revenues for the shipowner,” said Clean Marine’s chief operating officer Svein Ole Strømmen. Clean Marine has installed hybrid scrubbers on board six of Dorian LPG’s VLGCs with the seventh scrubber installation expected next month.
Mr Strømmen said, “The excellent planning work by Keppel Shipyard, combined with Clean Marine’s strong project management and Dorian LPG’s proactive and solution-oriented approach, allowed us to achieve an efficient and successful installation. During the hybrid scrubber retrofit installation, the vessel underwent a five-year classification survey cycle and maintenance works including full hull painting, ensuring the most cost-efficient result for all project stakeholders.”
Dorian LPG is one of the largest pure liquefied petroleum gas shipping companies and a leading owner and operator of modern VLGCs. The company currently own and operate a fleet of 22 modern VLGCs, including 19 new fuel-efficient eco-design 84,000-m3 vessels and three modern 82,000-m3 VLGCs.
