A naming ceremony has been held for two Swedish tanker newbuildings in China
On 23 March, the Erik Thun group named the latest two tankers to join the fleet.
Thun family member Alice Brax was given the honour of being godmother to two new tankers named at the AVIC Dingheng shipyard in China.
The tankers are the first two in a series of five newbuildings in the L-class with a focus on energy efficiency, sustainability, new regulations and customers’ needs.
“It is a historic day for our company with the naming of both Thun Lidkoping and Thun London on the same day,” said Ms Brax who is a third-generation member of the family.
The two vessels are intermediate tankers with 18,650 dwt, 149.8 m overall length and are expected to start operating mid-2019.
Upon delivery they will enter the Gothia Tanker Alliance network.
