Dynacom taps WinGD to power 12 VLCC newbuilds in China 

The Greek major placed the order at CSSC’s Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding in early June, with the vessels scheduled for delivery through 2030.

The newbuildings will be powered by WinGD’s 6X82-2.0 low-speed engines and fitted with scrubbers and high-pressure selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems to comply with the latest IMO emissions requirements.

According to WinGD, the engines combine "proven operational performance with the efficiency and reliability required for today’s tanker market."

With the latest order, Dynacom’s newbuilding programme has grown to 74 vessels, comprising VLCCs, Suezmaxes, Aframaxes and LR1 tankers, according to Clarksons data. Its in-service fleet currently stands at 68 vessels, the data provider shows.

According to Allied Shipbroking, 139 VLCCs have been ordered worldwide so far this year, compared with 81 during the whole of 2025, highlighting continued strong demand for the largest crude carriers.
