EDT Offshore, Synergy Marine tie up on new offshore shipmanagement JV

A new Cyprus-based shipmanagement joint venture aims to support offshore support vessel owners as they face an increasingly complex regulatory regime, requiring decisions around decarbonisation and digitalisation.

The new joint venture, EDT Synergy Shipmanagement Ltd, was formed by marine and subsea service provider EDT Offshore and global shipmanager Synergy Marine Group. The JV combines EDT Offshore’s expertise in offshore operations with Synergy Marine Group’s technical shipmanagement experience. 

EDT Offshore director-shipmanagement and operations, Giles Heimann, said, "By combining our expertise, EDT Synergy Shipmanagement Ltd is well-positioned to meet the demands of the offshore sector and deliver innovative solutions to our clients."

Synergy Marine Group co-chief executive, shipmanagement, Ajay Chaudhry, co-chief executive ship management, Synergy Marine Group, noted the JV would deliver customised solutions for the offshore industry. “Through this collaboration, we aim to elevate operational efficiency and tackle critical challenges like decarbonisation and digitalisation," he added.

Singapore-based Synergy Marine Group manages about 700 vessels, including LNG carriers, LPG tankers and container ships, employing more than 28,000 seafarers.

EDT Synergy Shipmanagement will address key challenges in offshore vessel management, including the high energy demands of dynamic positioning, limited access to alternative fuels, and the growing need for sustainable retrofitting.
